Magnuson Lowell Blog
Each week we post a blog about relevant legal issues. Glance through our various topics to learn more about a particular legal situation.
These articles are for limited informational purposes only and are not, nor are they intended to be, legal advice. You should not rely on this information for your case and should consult with an attorney for advice regarding your individual situation.
First and foremost, every attorney's primary responsibility is to their client. Unfortunately, one recurring factor tends to drag down even the best or most General Law case: communication. Under Washington Rules of Professional Conduct (and common sense), the client is the ultimate decision-maker for their own claim. An attorney is supposed to make recommendations, which will then allow the client to make an informed choice. With poory communication, this task becomes more difficult and can often lead to misunderstandings.
At Magnuson Lowell, the goal for all of our attorneys is to make sure that the lines of communication are open. We start off every new client consultation with an explanation of the legal process. This allows the client to understand how their specific case will flow. We also ensure that the new client understands that we are always available - whether by phone, email or in person - to discuss the status or strategy of their case.
With the integration of technology and the law, email allows for quick responses from every involved party. Email can be accessed whether we are in the office or on the road. Since communication is key, this advancement in technology allows us to make sure that all of our bases are covered. The client will be able to inform us as to their status or ask us necessary questions and the attorneys will be able to send quick responses or ask questions at the click of a button. This increased availability assures that no one is left in the dark and everyone's needs are appropriately met for a specific case or for General Law questions.
